New games centre over at scifi
Thursday, April 30, 2009
SciFi's website overhaul is complete, and looking pretty good too. The homepage now gives you nice little updates on latest blog posts (some of mine), forum posts (some of mine) and game high scores ( ... none of mine). The new Games Centre has some nifty things like Thunderbirds: Underwater Peril (see picture above), and a game inspired by Eureka, all nice, simple little things to give you something to do while you wait for the kettle to boil - go have a look-see!
Wanted - A review of the Graphic Novel
Saturday, April 18, 2009
Wanted is the kind of book that you really don't want your Grandparents to see. Sure, there have been comics more graphic and profane, but usually there's some kind of redemption/retribution - not here. We follow 'hero' Wesley Gibson on his journey of self-empowerment and realisation through a fabulously sordid world where the Villains have finally triumphed over the Superheroes, and control the globe from behind the scenes...

New pics of Devastator
Friday, April 10, 2009
This picture of Devastator has popped up over at TF08, detailing an expanding mouth?
I like the looks of it, although for some reason, the unpainted toy looks better than I suspect the finished one will...
Leonard Nimoy introduces surprise screening of new Trek
Wednesday, April 08, 2009
Whilst my girlfriend and I were trying to figure out the eccentricities
of 'Tweeting', we stumbled upon this video – that's what you get for
following Harry Knowles (of AintItCoolNews fame) on Twitter.
Leonard Nimoy was at the famous Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Texas, where fans were attending what they thought was a screening of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, to be introduced by Knowles himself...
When the opening credits for 'TWOK' warped and rolled, as though the film was burning in the projector, Nimoy took to the stage, and asked the audience if they thought it was fair that Australia get the first screening of the new film; “NOOO!”, they all shout – by this point, I think they knew what was coming. Chants of “Nimoy! Nimoy! Nimoy!”, and the odd random “KHAAAAAN!” broke up the presentation a little, but hell. Abrams is already well known for his marketing tactics, and this is probably the best yet – if there's one way to get Trek geeks on board, it's to have Nimoy present the film to them.
On the subject of JJ Abrams – his show Fringe started up again last-night on Fox after a long hiatus, and it seems 'The Watcher' was spotted – in real life, mind you – in the front row of American Idol!
Marketing. Genius.
